베트남 반중시위, 천 명이 넘는 이례적인 규모로 열려

 

남중국해에서 중국과 베트남 당국의 선박이 충돌해 긴장이 고조되고 있는 가운데 베트남의 수도 하노이에서 11일 중국 정부에 항의하는 시위가 1000명이 넘는 이례적인 규모로 열렸습니다.

남중국해에서 중국과 베트남이 영유권을 놓고 분쟁 중인 서사제도의 주변해역에서는 중국의 국영석유회사가 추진하고 있는 해저시추작업을 둘러싸고 양측 당국의 선박이 충돌해 긴장이 고조되고 있습니다.

이번 사태와 관련해 11일 하노이의 중국대사관 앞에는 시민 등 1000여명이 모여 '중국은 즉시 시추장비를 철거하라', '현장은 베트남의 해역'이라고 쓴 플래카드를 들고 중국의 행동에 거세게 항의했습니다.

 

공산당 일당지배 하에서 집회와 표현의 자유가 제약되고 있는 베트남에서는 시위 참가가 처벌의 대상인데 11일은 경찰도 묵인해 항의활동이 약 2시간에 걸쳐 계속됐습니다.

이전에도 중국과 베트남 간에 대립이 발생하면 하노이 등에서 항의시위가 벌어졌지만 1000명 넘게 모인 이번 시위는 이례적인 규모여서 중국의 행동에 대한 베트남 국민들의 거센 반발을 확인할 수 있었습니다.

Last year, a Vietnamese man protested outside the White House during the visit of Vietnamese President Truong Tan Sang. He demanded the U.S. recognize Vietnamese sovereignty over the Paracel and Spratly Islands.
