블링컨 국무장관 “한국 광복절 축하…철통같은 동맹에 전념”

토니 블링컨 미국 국무장관이 한국의 광복절을 축하하는 성명을 발표했습니다.

블링컨 장관은 미국 시각으로 14일, 한반도 시각 15일에 발표한 성명에서 “미국 정부를 대표해 이 기쁘고 경축스러운 국경일을 맞은 한국에 진심 어린 축하의 인사를 건넨다”고 말했습니다.

[블링컨 장관] “On behalf of the Government of the United States of America, I extend a heartfelt congratulations to the Republic of Korea on this joyous and celebratory National Day. We commemorate our two great countries’ enduring friendship and the founding of your republic, which has grown into a beacon of democracy and enabled prosperity for millions of people. Seventy-one years later, the United States remains firmly committed to our ironclad Alliance with the Republic of Korea. Together, we will continue to work side-by-side, upholding our shared values of international peace and stability, human rights, and individual liberties. Best wishes to the people of the Republic of Korea on this National Day.”

이어 “우리는 두 위대한 국가의 영원한 우정과 민주주의 등불로 성장해 수많은 국민에게 번영을 가져온 여러분의 건국을 기념한다”며 “71년이 지난 지금, 미국은 한국에 대한 우리의 철통같은 동맹에 굳건히 전념하고 있다”고 강조했습니다.

그러면서 “우리는 앞으로도 국제 평화와 안정, 인권, 개인의 자유라는 공동의 가치를 지키며 함께 노력할 것”이라고 블링컨 장관은 밝혔습니다.

미국은 매년 한국의 광복절인 8월 15일을 맞아 국무장관 명의의 성명을 발표하고 있습니다.
