버마 군부 폭력사용 지시에 군 체계 내 불화 (E)

버마 군사정부는 유엔 특사가 지난주 친 민주주의 시위대에 대한 군부의 유혈 진압에 대한 보고서 발표를 준비함에 따라 4일 더 많은 활동가들을 검거했다고, 목격자들이 전했습니다.

목격자들에 따르면 버마 군부는 옛 수도 양곤에서 한 밤 공습으로 수십명을 체포했으며, 낮 시간에는 자제한 모습으로 거리에 주재했습니다.

또 일부 군 장교들은 버마 군부의 지시를 따를 것을 거부하고 있으며, 군 체계에 불화가 생겼다는 언론 보도가 나오고 있습니다.

버마의 한 전직 대령은 '미국의 소리' 방송과의 인터뷰에서 군부의 폭력을 쓰라는 지시를 따를 수 없었기 때문에 버마를 떠났다고 밝혔습니다.

버마 당국은 또 인터넷 사용을 막고 지난 주 유혈 진압 사태를 긍정적으로 전환하기 위한 선전 선동을 시작했습니다. 

버마 관영 신문 '뉴 라이트 오브 미얀마'는 유혈 진압에 대한 해외 비판가들을 '거짓말쟁이'라고 칭했습니다. 버마 민주 활동가들에 따르면, 버마 군부는 병사들의 가족들에게 정부가 운영하는 관영 텔레비전 방송을 매일 저녁 두 시간씩 시청할 것을 지시했습니다.

Witnesses in Burma say the military government has rounded up more activists, as a U.N. envoy prepares to deliver a report today (Thursday) on last week's bloody crackdown on pro-democracy protesters.

Witnesses say dozens of people were arrested in night time raids in the main city of Rangoon. During the day, the military has been maintaining a low-key presence on the streets.

Some military officers are refusing to follow orders and there are reports of dissension in the military's ranks. one former colonel told VOA (in an interview in Bangkok) he fled Burma because he could not follow orders to use violence.

It is difficult to get complete reports from inside the country. Burmese authorities have blocked Internet access and put restrictions on telecommunications and visits by foreign journalists.(미국의 소리 2007.10.4)
