"동아시아 지능센터는 버마(미얀마) 민주화 운동을 지지합니다 세계 각국 모든 지능센터 (I센터) 요원들이 연대로 버마(미얀마) 일인 장기집권 군사정부를 무너뜨리는데 협조해주기를 바랍니다 특히 러시아 자유민주정부와 중국 사회정부는 일인 장기집권(국가 사회주의 정부) 폐단를 잘 알 것입니다  국내 정국 불안이 주변국 전쟁으로 이어져왔다는 것도 잘 알고 있을 것입니다 두 정부도 버마정부 불안정을 잘 통찰하고 아웅산 수지여사 등장을 도와주는 것이 올바릅니다 우리들은 유고와 이라크 독재정부를 무너뜨리는데 공헌했습니다"

It was the ninth consecutive day of unrest, as the protesters demanded an end to the rule of the military junta.

Security forces reportedly surrounded six monasteries in Rangoon, the largest city in this deeply religious country.

Dozens of protesters, including Buddhist monks, were injured, and at least 100 people have been arrested.

Some of the monks have reportedly urged civilians not to join in their demonstrations.

But some witnesses said civilians were shielding monks marching elsewhere in the city.

The protests were sparked by the government's decision to double the price of fuel in the impoverished nation.

Soldiers armed with rifles, batons and shields were deployed at strategic points in Rangoon.

 

 

Police used batons and tear gas on the crowds, and there were reports of warning shots being fired

The military had warned the monks on Monday to stop their protests.

They have insisted that theirs is a peaceful protest, but the atmosphere is now described as tense and angry.

Tens of thousands of Burmese defied warnings by the military junta, and staged another day of marches in cities across the country.

In Rangoon, monks led the way from the revered Shwedagon Pagoda, which has become a focal point of the growing protests.

They have been joined by large numbers of students and supporters who until Monday had stood on the sidelines cheering the monks.
