버마 정부, 야간통행금지령 발포 (E)

버마 군사정부는 25일, 불교승려들이 이끄는 반정부 시위를 막기 위해 랑군과 만달레이 시에 야간통행금지령을 발포했습니다.

당국은 거리를 돌며 주민들에게 확성기로 저녁 9시부터 새벽 5시까지 이 지역에서 통행금지령이 실시된다고 알렸습니다. 이 발표는 또한 랑군이 앞으로 60일동안 시관할 군 사령관의 직접 통제를 받게 된다고 말했습니다.

버마에서 불교승들의 반정부시위가 8일째 계속되는 가운데   군사정부는 수도 랑군 일원에 수백명의 군대와 폭동진압 경찰을 배치했습니다.

버마 군사정부는 24일, 불교승들이 정치에 관여하지 말 라고 경고했습니다. 버마의 종교장관 투라 미인트 마웅 준장은 국영 텔리비전에서 반정부 시위에 참가한 승려들에 대해 적절한 조치를 취하겠다고 위협했습니다.

국제사회는 버마 군사정부가 승려들의 시위를 무력진압하지 말 것을 호소했습니다.

Burma's military government has imposed a dusk-to-dawn curfew in Rangoon and Mandalay as part of efforts to end pro-democracy demonstrations led by Buddhist monks.

Officials used loudspeakers to announce the curfew will be in effect from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. local time. The announcement said Rangoon is now under the direct control of the city's military commander for 60 days.

Earlier Tuesday, the government deployed hundreds of troops and riot police in the capital, after another march by tens of thousands of Buddhist monks and their supporters.

The international community has appealed to Burma's military government not to crack down on the protesters.

On Monday, the government warned the monks to stay out of politics. Burma's religious affairs minister (Brigadier General Thura Myint Maung) threatened on state television to take action against the protesting monks.(미국의 소리 2007.9.25)
