IAEA 사무총장, ‘핵사찰단 다음달 북한 복귀 가능’ (Eng)

국제원자력기구 IAEA의 모하메드 엘바라데이 사무총장은 IAEA 사찰단이 다음달 북한에 복귀할 수 있을 것으로 낙관한다고 16일 말했습니다.

엘바라데이 사무총장은 또 북한 정부가 지난달 북핵 6자회담에서 체결된 2.13합의사항을 이행하기를 희망한다고 말했습니다.

북한은 이번 합의에서 경제지원과 관계정상화 노력을 대가로 오는 4월 13일까지 영변 핵시설을  폐쇄하고 IAEA 사찰단의 복귀를 허용하기로 약속했습니다.

북한은 지난 2002년 IAEA 사찰단을 추방한 뒤 지난해 첫 핵실험을 단행했습니다.

The head of the U.N. atomic energy agency says he is optimistic nuclear inspectors will be able to return to North Korea by next month.

Mohamed ElBaradei said today (Friday) he is hopeful Pyongyang will honor a disarmament agreement reached in six-party talks last month.

Under the landmark accord, North Korea pledged to close its nuclear facilities and re-admit International Atomic Energy Agency inspectors by an April 13th deadline.

In return, Pyongyang will receive aid and diplomatic benefits.

ElBaradei's comments come as the nations in the six-party talks (the United States, Japan, Russia, China and the two Koreas) prepare for another round of negotiations on North Korea's nuclear weapons program set for Monday.
