반기문 차기 유엔사무총장, 포용정책의 방향은 올바르다고(옳다고)
	차기 유엔사무총장으로 취임하는 한국의 반기문 외교통상부장관은 오늘 서울에서 NHK의 인터뷰에 응해 북한에 대한 남한의 포용정책에 대해 자세한 것은 한국정부에서 검토중인데 목적과 방향은 옳다고 생각한다며 앞으로도 포용정책을 계속해서 실시해야 한다는 생각을 나타냈습니다. 인터뷰에서 반기문 외교통상부장관은 북한의 핵실험에 대해 자신만이 아니라 전세계가 충격을 받았다고 심정을 밝힌 뒤, 김정일 총비서와 중국의 당가선 국무위원과의 회담에 언급하고, 조건부이기는 하지만 6자회담에 복귀할 의사가 있다고 밝힌 점에 주목할 필요가 있다고 말했습니다. 또한 북한에 대한 유엔의 제재결의에 대해서는 한국의 입장이 약간 오해되고 있다며 제재결의를 실시할 것이라는 입장을 다시 확인했으나, 핵개발의 자금으로 쓰인다며 내외로부터 비난받고 있는 금강산 관광과 개성공업단지의 사업에 대해서는 결의에 따르는 형식으로 조정중이라고 말하는데 그쳤습니다. 또한 북한에 대한 포용정책에 대해 자세한 부분은 정부가 검토중이라고 말했으나 정책의 사고와 목적, 지향하는 방향은 옳다고 생각한다고 밝혀 앞으로도 포용정책을 계속해서 실시해야 한다는 생각을 나타냈습니다.

Ban defends South Korea's engagement policy

South Korean foreign minister Ban Ki Moon has indicated that his country should continue engaging North Korea, saying he thinks the objective and direction of the policy are right. Speaking to NHK on Wednesday, Mr Ban said that North Korea's nuclear test was a shock for him. He said, however, it's necessary to pay attention to a remark by North Korean leader Kim Jong Il that the North is ready to return to the 6-party talks on its nuclear program with certain conditions. The comment was reportedly made to Chinese envoy Tang Jiaxuan last week. Mr Ban's remark is believed to reflect South Korea's hope that the United States will hold direct talks with the North, paving the way for the early resumption of the 6-party talks. Mr Ban said that South Korea's stance on a UN sanctions resolution against North Korea is slightly misunderstood, and reaffirmed that Seoul would implement the sanctions. But he did not elaborate on what South Korea would do about inter-Korean projects, which have been the subject of local and international criticism for allegedly helping to fund North Korea's nuclear development. Mr Ban, who will become the next UN Secretary General, said that he would appoint a special envoy to address issues on the Korean Peninsula after he takes office.
