유엔 상임이사국 등 대 이란 추가제제 협의 (E)

미국, 러시아, 영국, 중국, 프랑스 등 유엔 상임이사국 5개국과 독일은  이란의 핵 개발에 대응한 추가 제재를 협의했습니다.

니콜라스 번스 미국 국무부 차관은 20일 전화 회의를 주재했으며, 자세한 협의 내용은 아직 공개되지 않고 있습니다.

이날 회의는 이란 정부에 대한 3번째 제재안 내용을 확정하기 위해서 열렸습니다. 하지만 미국 관리들은 다음달 중에 제재안이 제출될 가능성은 없다고 밝히고 있습니다.

한편 이란의 핵 개발과 관련해서 러시아는 이번주 이란 부시에르 핵 발전소에 연료 공급을 시작했습니다. 러시아는 연료 공급의 조건으로 폐연료를 모두 러시아에 반환하도록 했습니다.

러시아는 국제원자력기구인 IAEA의 엄격한 감독 하에 핵 연료가 공급된다는 입장입니다.

Diplomats from the U.N. Security Council's five permanent member countries plus Germany have conferred on implementing further sanctions against Iran for its disputed nuclear program.

Under Secretary of State (for Political Affairs) Nicholas Burns today (Thursday) held a conference call with his counterparts from Britain, France, Russia, China and Germany (the so-called P-Five-Plus-One). The exact details of the call were not immediately available.

The diplomats are attempting to finalize terms of a third sanctions resolution against Tehran. But U.S. officials have said there is no chance of submitting a new resolution before January.

In related news, Russia this week began delivering fuel to Iran's Bushehr nuclear power plant on the Persian Gulf, under terms that mandate the return of all spent fuel to Russia.

A spokeswoman (Irina Yesipova) for the Russian state contractor (Atomstroiexport) building the plant tells VOA fuel will be delivered from Russia under strict supervision by the International Atomic Energy Agency.
