엘 고어, 노벨상 평화상 수상 (E)

지구온난화 반대운동을 펴고있는  엘 고어 전 미국 부통령은 이제 인류가 지구상에서 전쟁을 중단할 때가 됐다고 말했습니다.

고어 전 부통령은 10일 오슬로에서 노벨 평화상 을 받는 자리에서 행한 수상연설에서 세계에서 최대 이산화탄소 배출국인 미국과 중국이 지구온난화를 막기 위해 가장 대담한 조치를 취해야 한다고 역설했습니다.

고어 전 부통령은 이번 주말에 발리 섬에서 열리고 있는 기후변화회의에 참석해 세계 지도자들에게 오는 2010년까지 온실가스 배출  억제 목표를 달성하도록 분기별로 회의를 가질 것을 촉구하겠다고 밝혔습니다.

고어부통령은 기후변화정부간위원회와 함께 올해 2007년 노벨평화상을 공동수상했습니다.

Global warming campaigner and former U.S. Vice President Al Gore says it is time for humanity to stop "waging war" on planet Earth.

Gore spoke today (Monday) in Oslo after receiving the Nobel Peace Prize. He urged the two largest carbon-emitting countries -- the United States and China -- to make what he called the "boldest moves" to fight global warming.

The United States has not ratified the Kyoto Protocol, the 1997 international pact that requires reductions in greenhouse gas emissions. China was not required to reduce emissions under the deal.

Gore said he would go to the U.N. climate meeting in Bali later this week to urge world leaders to meet as often as every three months to
enact a global cap on greenhouse gas emissions by 2010.

Gore shared the 2007 Nobel prize with the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, represented at today's ceremony by Rajendra Pachauri.
