'미군 떠나면 완벽한 치안 떠맡을 준비돼 있다' - 이라크 총리 (E)

누리 알-말리키 이라크 총리는 14일, 이라크 군은 미군이 떠나면 언제든지 완벽한 치안을 제공할 준비가 돼 있다고 밝혔습니다.

말리키 총리는 이라크 군은 언제든지 전면적인 안보 책임을 맡을 수 있다고 강조했습니다.

그러나, 말리키 총리는 이라크 군은 아직도 더 많은 훈련과 장비가 필요하다고 덧붙였습니다.

이보다 앞서 이번 주, 이라크 전쟁에 관한 미국 정부 보고서는 이라크가 제한적인 군사 정치적 목표만을 달성했다고 지적했습니다.

한편, 이라크 주둔 미군은 바그다드 남부의 미군 기지를 겨냥한 46개의 로켓 발사대를 지난 12일 발견했다고 14일 밝혔습니다. 미군은 그 가운데 34개의 발사대에 이란제 로켓이 장착돼 있었다고 말했습니다.

이밖에도 미군은 이라크 중부와 북부에서 14일 전개한 작전 중에 6명의 테러분자를 사살하고 18명의 용의자를 체포했다고 밝혔습니다. 

Iraq's prime minister today (Saturday) said Iraqi forces are ready to provide full security in the nation whenever U.S. troops leave.

Nouri al-Maliki told reporters that Iraq's troops can assume complete responsibility for security at any time.

But Mr. Maliki added that Iraqi forces still need more training and equipment.

Earlier this week, a U.S. government report on the war said that Iraq has achieved limited military and political progress.

Separately today (Saturday), the U.S. military in Iraq said troops killed six terrorists and detained 18 suspects during operations in central and northern Iraq.

The military says troops engaged a group of armed men using women and children as human shields in Diyala province. It says troops called in an airstrike that killed six of the terrorists after the civilians were released.<미국의 소리 2007.7.14>
