미-이스라엘, 압바스 수반 지지 (E)

조지 부시 미국 대통령과 에후드 올메르트 이스라엘 총리는 무장세력 하마스와 싸우는 마무드 압바스 팔레스타인 자치정부 수반에 대한 지지를 표명했습니다.

백악관에서 정상회담을 갖는 부시 대통령과 올메르트 총리

부시 대통령과 올메르트 총리는 19일 백악관에서 가진 중동평화과정 재출발에 관한 정상회담에서 이같이 밝혔습니다.

부시 대통령은 압바스 수반이 온건한 인물로 모든 팔레스타인 인들의 수반이라고 말했습니다. 올메르트 총리는 압바스 수반과 협력하기 위해 모든 노력을 다할 것이라고 밝혔습니다.

압바스 자치수반은 지난 주에 회교 무장세력 하마스의 이스마일 하니예 총리 내각을 해산하고, 살람 파이야드 총리가 이끄는 새로운 비상내각을 출범시켰습니다.

U.S. President George W. Bush and Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert have expressed support for Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in his struggle with the militant group Hamas.

Mr. Bush and Mr. Olmert made the remarks as they held talks at the White House today (Tuesday) on re-starting the Mideast peace process. Mr. Bush called Mr. Abbas a "voice of moderation" and the president "of all the Palestinians." Mr. Olmert said he is going to make every effort to cooperate with Mr. Abbas.

Mr. Abbas of the Fatah group dismissed the Hamas-led Palestinian government last week and swore in a new Cabinet on Sunday. Hamas seized control of the Gaza Strip last week in fierce fighting with Fatah, which remains in control of the West Bank.(미국의 소리 2007.6.19)
