방글라데시 전직 총리 아들, 부패 혐의로 체포 (Eng)

방글라데시 칼레다 지아 전 총리의 차남이 부패 혐의로 체포됐다고, 방글라데시 당국이 발표했습니다. 방글라데시 임시 정부는 최근 광범위한 부패 척결 노력을 진행하고 있습니다.

한편 방글라데시에서는 최근 부패 수사와 관련해서 160명의 정치인과 사업가, 정부 관리가 체포됐습니다.

방글라데시 임시 정부는 새 선거일정을 발표하기 전에 정치권의 부패를 뿌리 뽑겠다는 입장을 밝힌 바 있습니다.

Officials in Bangladesh have arrested the younger son of former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia, as the military-backed interim government continues its anti-corruption drive.

Security forces arrested 36-year-old Arafat Rahman this (Monday) morning in the capital, Dhaka. An advisor to the interim government said Bangladesh's anti-graft committee will investigate the charges, which have not been made public.

The arrest comes just more than a month after Ms. Zia's elder son and political heir, Tareque Rahman, was picked up by police and charged with extortion.

Khaleda Zia is under virtual confinement at her residence.

About 160 politicians, business leaders and former government officials from both of Bangladesh's main parties have been detained by authorities in a widespread crackdown on graft.

The interim government has vowed to root out corruption from politics before announcing a new date for elections -- postponed earlier this year.(미국의 소리 2007.4.16)
