FBI arrests hacker in Sony computer breach

The US Federal Bureau of Investigation has arrested a member of an international hacking group in connection with the breach of computers at a US subsidiary of Sony Corporation.

Twenty-three-year-old Cody Kretsinger from the state of Arizona was arrested on Thursday for hacking into computers at Sony Pictures Entertainment in June. He is accused of downloading information of more than 37,000 users.

The FBI says Kretsinger is a member of the so-called Lulz Security hacker group, which has claimed involvement in the attack. The suspect is said to have given the stolen information to other members.

The FBI is investigating the case and says other people may have also been involved.
Earlier this year, Sony group companies came under heavy attack by hackers.

The personal information of 77 million online users was stolen from the firm's PlayStation division.
