기니 전 대통령 장례식 수만명 몰려 (E)

콩테 전 대통령의 장례식은 기니 의회에서 열렸으며, 주변국 정상과 아프리카 연합 고위 관계자 등이 참석했습니다.

장례식은 기니의 국립경기장으로 자리를 옮겨서 계속됐으며, 3만 여명의 추모객이 몰렸습니다. 한편 쿠데타를 주도한 무사 카마라 대위는 장례식에 참석하지 않았습니다.

콩테 전 대통령은 25년간 기니를 통치했으며, 지난 22일 사망했습니다. 이후 군부가 쿠데타를 일으키고 권력을 장악했습니다.

Tens of thousands of people have gathered in Guinea's capital to pay last respects to longtime dictator Lansana Conte.

The late president's coffin, draped in Guinea's national flag, was taken to parliament today (Friday) for a ceremony attended by the presidents of four West African countries (Guinea-Bissau, Ivory Coast, Liberia, and Sierra Leone) and the African Union's top official, Jean Ping.

It was then moved to Guinea's national stadium for another ceremony in front of an estimated 30-thousand people.

The proceedings continue at Conakry's Grand Mosque before Mr. Conte's body is taken to its final resting place in a village near the capital.

Mr. Conte died Monday after ruling Guinea for nearly 25 years. The military group that seized power after his death has invited foreign envoys to meet with them on Saturday. The coup leaders say they want to "reassure the international community."
