미한일 외교장관 통화 “북한 위성발사 시도 규탄, 긴밀한 3국 협의 지속”

미국과 한국, 일본 외교장관이 북한의 2차 군사정찰위성 발사 시도를 규탄하고 공동 대응 방안을 논의했습니다.

매튜 밀러 국무부 대변인은 24일 보도자료에서 “토니 블링컨 국무장관이 박진 한국 외교장관, 하야시 요시마사 일본 외무상과 전화 통화를 갖고 탄도미사일 기술을 이용한 북한의 8월 24일 우주 발사 시도에 대해 논의했다”고 설명했습니다.

[밀러 대변인] “Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken held a trilateral call yesterday with Republic of Korea (ROK) Foreign Minister Park Jin and Japanese Foreign Minister Hayashi Yoshimasa to discuss the DPRK’s August 24 (KST) attempted space launch, which used ballistic missile technology. The Secretary and the Foreign Ministers strongly condemned the launch as a violation of multiple UN Security Council resolutions and for its destabilizing effect on the region.”

그러면서 “국무장관과 외교장관들은 이번 발사가 다수의 유엔 안보리 결의에 대한 위반이며, 역내 불안정을 야기할 수 있다는 점을 강력히 규탄했다”고 밝혔습니다.

아울러 3국 장관들은 “북한의 뻔뻔하고 무모한 행동에 대응하기 위해 캠프 데이비드 정상회의 정신에 따라 3국간 긴밀한 협의를 지속해 나갈 것을 확인했다”고 전했습니다.

이어 “그들은 북한의 불법적인 대량살상무기 및 탄도미사일 프로그램을 지원하는 수익의 흐름을 차단하고 북한의 조달 활동을 막기 위해 국제사회가 함께 힘을 모아야 할 필요성을 강조했다”고 덧붙였습니다.

[밀러 대변인] “The Secretary and the Foreign Ministers affirmed that they will continue close trilateral consultation, in the spirit of the Camp David Summit, in response to the DPRK’s brazen and reckless actions. They stressed the need for the international community to come together to prevent the DPRK’s procurement activities and stem the flow of revenue supporting its unlawful WMD and ballistic missile programs. The Secretary also reaffirmed the ironclad U.S. commitments to the defense of the ROK and Japan.”

밀러 대변인은 블링컨 장관이 “한국과 일본에 대한 미국의 철통같은 방위 공약을 재확인했다”고 말했습니다.

앞서 북한은 현지 시각 24일 오전 3시 30분쯤, 동창리 일대에서 우주 발사체 1발을 발사했지만 실패했습니다.
