'영국 공연장 테러 용의자, 리비아계 아베다'

5월 22일 영국 맨체스터 시에서 발생한 폭탄테러를 저지른 용의자의 신원이 알려졌습니다. 영국 경찰은 용의자가 올해 22세인 살만 아베디라고 밝혔습니다.

영국 BBC방송은 용의자가 맨체스터 출신으로 가족은 리비아계라고 전했습니다.

아베디는 22일 맨체스터 공연장에서 벌어진 미국 가수 아리아나 그란데의 공연이 끝나고 사람들이 몰려나오던 시각인 10시 30분경 자살폭탄을 터뜨린 것으로 보입니다.

이 공격으로 지금까지 22명이 숨지고 59명이 다쳤습니다.

현지 경찰은 이번 테러가 단독 범행인지 아니면 공모자가 있는지 확인하는 것이 시급하다고 밝혔습니다.

한편 이슬람 극단주의 무장조직인 ISIL은 인터넷을 통해 자신들이 이번 공격의 배후라고 자처했습니다.

하지만 미국과 영국 정부는 ISIL의 주장을 아직 확인할 수 없다고 밝혔습니다.

영국 중부 지방 맨체스터에서 일어난 8세 여자 아이를 포함한 22명이 희생된 테러 사건과 관련해, 영국 정부는 추가 테러의 위험이 임박해 있다며 테러 경보를 10년 만에 최고단계까지 올리고 엄중한 경계태세에 들어갔습니다.

영국 중부 지방 맨체스터에서 22일 밤, 미국의 인기 가수의 콘서트장 부근에서 큰 폭발이 일어나 지금까지 22명이 사망하고 59명이 부상했습니다.

희생자 중에는 8세 여자 어린이를 포함해 10대의 젊은이가 많아, 사건 발생 후, 시 중심부에 있는 시청 앞에는 많은 시민이 모여 묵념을 올리며 안타까워했습니다.

경찰은 사건을 22살의 살람 아베디 용의자에 의한 자살폭탄테러로 보고 있습니다.

아베디 용의자는 리비아 출신의 부모 밑에서 영국에서 태어난 이민2세로 맨체스터에 있는 대학에 다닌 것으로 알려졌고, 과격파조직IS가 사건의 관여를 주장하는 성명을 내놓은 데 따라 경찰은 관련 장소를 수색하는 등 동기와 배후 관계를 신중히 수사하고 있습니다.

메이 수상은 23일 밤, 또다른 테러가 발생할 위험이 임박해 있다며 5단계의 경계태세를 10년 만에 최고 단계로 올린다고 발표했습니다.

이에 따라 무장한 경찰관과 군인이 거리에서 경비에 나서는 엄중한 태세에 들어가, 사건의 영향은 영국에서 사는 사람들과 방문한 사람들에게도 확산되고 있습니다.

                                  The blast happened at 22:33 BST on Monday at the end of a concert by the US singer Ariana Grande.

 

                               The explosion happened in the foyer of the 21,000-capacity venue, shortly after Ariana Grande left the stage.

 

                                Casualties were helped at the scene and the wounded are now being treated at six hospitals around the city

The emergency services have been praised for their response. Armed police were called to the incident and more than 60 ambulances were sent to the scene

Police put the surrounding area into lockdown after the explosion, which also meant many concert-goers were unable to return to their vehicles in car parks.
