반기문 UN사무총장, 가자지구 경제봉쇄 완화 촉구

반기문 유엔 사무총장은 21일, 네타냐후 이스라엘 수상과 회담을 갖고, 가자지구에 대한 경제봉쇄가 복구에 지장을 주고 있다며 봉쇄 완화를 촉구했습니다.

회담에 앞서 반기문 사무총장은, 1년 전 이스라엘군의 대규모 공격으로 적어도 1300명이 사망한 팔레스타인 잠정자치구 가자지구를 시찰했습니다.

공격으로 파괴된 가옥의 대부분이 재건되지 않고 있어 반기문 사무총장은 현지의 유엔 책임자로부터 이스라엘의 경제봉쇄로 인해 콘크리트 등의 입수가 어려워 복구에 지장을 초래하고 있다는 설명을 들었습니다.

시찰 후 기자회견을 가진 반기문 사무총장은 "경제봉쇄는 잘못된 정책이며, 주민들에게 고통을 주고 있다"고 비판했습니다.

반기문 사무총장은 그후 예루살렘에서 네타냐후 이스라엘 수상과 회담을 갖고, 가자지구에 대한 경제봉쇄 완화를 직접 촉구했습니다.

하지만 이스라엘은 지난 주 팔레스타인측의 무장세력이 발사한 로켓탄으로 1명이 숨져, 보복으로 가자지구를 공습하고 있기 때문에 경제봉쇄 완화의 가능성은 낮은 것으로 보입니다.
