미국의 노동절-매년 9월  첫째주 월요일(2009년 9월 7일)에 해당하는 노동절은 지난 1894년부터 연방 공휴일로 지정되어 왔다. 그러나 1894년 이전에도 일부 지역에서는 노동기사단(Knights of Labor)이라는 노동자 조직의 노력 덕분에 공휴일로 지켜지기도 했다. 노동절은 미국의 노동자들에게 감사하는 뜻 깊은 날이다. 많은 도시에서는 노동절 행사를 기념하기 위하여 각 노조를 대표하는 노동자들이 퍼레이드를 벌인다.
