메케인, '오바마 당선자와 협력' (E)

올해 미국 대통령 선거에서 공화당 후보였던 존 매케인 상원의원은 미국내 경제 문제와 국가 안보 문제를 해결하기 위해 바락 오바마 대통령 당선자와 공동 노력할 것이라고 밝혔습니다.

매케인 의원은 14일 미국 ABC-TV 방송에 출연해 미국이 직면해 있는 도전들은 공화당원과 민주당원들이 서로 협력하도록 만들고 있다고 말했습니다. 매케인 의원은 내년 초에 오바마 당선자가 제안한 경기 부양책을 지지할 용의로 있지만 세부 사항을 우선 검토하길 원하고 있다고 말했습니다.

매케인 의원은 하지만 자신과 오바마 당선자가 모든 문제에 동감하지는 않을 것이라고 덧붙였습니다.

Former U.S. presidential candidate John McCain says he will work with President-elect Barack Obama to address economic and national security problems.

The Republican senator told U.S. television network ABC today (Sunday)that the challenges facing the country require Republicans and Democrats to cooperate. McCain says he is willing to support an economic stimulus package proposed by Mr. Obama for early next year, but wants to see details first.

But Senator McCain says he and Mr. Obama will not agree on all issues.

During his election campaign, McCain criticized Mr. Obama for saying the United States should talk to Iran's leaders without preconditions. McCain said today that the U.S. should not give Iran a platform to promote calls for the destruction of Israel.
