부토 전 파키스탄 총리, 집회금지령 불복 촉구 (E)

베나지르 부토 전 파키스탄 총리는 수도 이슬라마바드 부근에서 페르베즈 무샤라프 대통령의 국가 비상사태 선포에 항의 하는 대규모 집회를 가질 계획이라고 발표했습니다. 

부토 전 총리는 7일 지지자들에게 군중 집회를 금하도록 한 무샤라프 대통령의 지시를 거부할 것을 촉구했습니다.

초드리 슈자트 후사인 파키스탄 이슬람 정당(PML) 총재는 7일 파키스탄의 영자 신문인 ‘던’지와의 회견에서 이 같이 밝혔습니다.  후사인 총재는 무샤라프 대통령은 국가비상사태를 할 수 없이 선포한 것이라며, 국가비상 체제를 원하는 사람은 없다고 말했습니다.

후사인 총재는 이어 무샤라프 대통령이 비상사태 장기화의 결과를 잘 알고 있기 때문에 이를 곧 해제할 것으로 확신한다고 말했습니다.

한편, 파키스탄 야당들은 국가비상사태의 전복 방안을 논의하기 위해 베나지르 부토 전 총리와 만날 예정입니다.

부토 전 총리는 자신이 이끄는 파키스탄 인민당이 오는 9일 라왈핀디 마을에서 국가비상사태에 항의하는 군중집회를 가질 것이라고 말했습니다.  하지만 시 당국은 이러한 집회를 허용하지 않을 것이라고 밝혔습니다. 

  
Pakistan's former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto has announced plans for a massive rally near the capital, Islamabad, to protest emergency rule imposed by President Pervez Musharraf Saturday.

Ms. Bhutto today (Wednesday) urged her supporters to defy a ban on public gatherings issued by President Musharraf, and attend the rally Friday in the city of Rawalpindi. City officials insist they will not allow the gathering to take place.

In the meantime, Ms. Bhutto is meeting with opposition party leaders in Islamabad today to discuss ways to overturn the emergency rule.

Also today, lawyers clashed with police outside courthouses in the capital in a third day of protests against the emergency rule.

In another development, the head of President Musharraf's ruling party says the military leader will likely lift the state of emergency in two to three weeks.
