인공지능 전문가 한국 최초 우주인 고산씨로 선정

한국은 한국 최초의 우주인으로 인공지능 전문가인 고산 씨를 선정했습니다.

고 씨는 내년 4월에 러시아에서 발사하는 소유즈 우주선을 타고 국제우주정거장으로 가  7-8일 간 머무르면서 각종 과학실험을 수행하게 됩니다.

한국 당국자들은 올해 30살의 고 씨가 특정한 실험들에서 2인의 최종 후보 가운데 한 명이었던 여성 이소연 씨보다

나은 평가를 받았다고 말했습니다. 또한 고 씨는 러시아 우주인들과의 의사소통 능력도 더 좋았다고, 당국자들은 덧붙였습니다.

South Korea has chosen an expert on artificial intelligence to be the country's first astronaut.

Ko San beat out more than 36-thousand competitors to make a flight to the International Space Station.

South Korean authorities say the 30-year-old was selected because he performed better in certain experiments than female co-finalist, Yi Soo-yeon. Authorities say Ko also was better able to communicate with Russian cosmonauts, who will be his partners in the mission he is expected to undertake next year.

Ko is scheduled to blast off in a Russian Soyuz spacecraft next April, and to dock with the International Space Station in orbit. He will then spend about a week conducting experiments.

Yi will remain in the program as a backup to Ko and to help with mission planning.
