유엔 '네팔 전 반군단체 군사력 유지 우려' (Eng)

네팔 주재 유엔 대표부 관계자들은 전 마오쩌뚱주의 반군단체 의장의 성명이 평화협정에 따라 요구하고 있는 무장해제 결의에 관한 우려를 낳고 있다고 밝혔습니다.

키에란 드와이어 대변인은 14일 네팔 주재 유엔 대표부는 전 마오쩌뚱주의 반군단체 프라찬다 의장의 발언에 대한 해명을 듣고자 한다고 말했습니다.

프라찬다는 지난 12일 수천명의 그의 추종자들과 무기들이 지정된 캠프 외부에서 그대로 유지될 것이라고 밝힌 바 있습니다. 프라찬다는 또 이들은 공격을 시작할 수 있는 능력을 유지하고 있다고 말했습니다.

그후에 마오쩌뚱주자들의 대변인은 프라찬다의 발언이 와전됐다고 해명하고, 프라찬다는 유엔의 감독을 받는 장소 이외의 땅굴에 있는 불안정한 무기류에 관해 언급한 것이라고 말했습니다.

United Nations officials in Nepal say statements made by the chairman of the former Maoist rebel group are raising concerns about its commitment to disarm as called for under a peace deal.

Spokesman Kieran Dwyer says the U.N. mission in Nepal wants clarification of remarks made by Prachanda (eds: one name), who said on Monday that thousands of his followers and their weapons remain outside designated camps. He also said they retain the capability to launch attacks.

Since then, Maoist spokesmen have described Prachanda's remarks as "inaccurate." They said he was referring to unstable weaponry kept in pits outside U.N.-supervised sites.

Unregistered weapons are a violation of last year's peace deal by Nepal's government and Maoist rebels.

The U.N. says further inspections will be carried out to determine if Maoists are in compliance with the agreement.(미국의 소리)
