FBI arrests man trying to join Islamic State

The US Federal Bureau of Investigation has arrested a 19-year-old man who was trying to leave for Syria to join the Islamic State militant group.

Officials at the Justice Department say FBI agents intercepted the man at Chicago's international airport on Saturday before he boarded a plane to Turkey.

The FBI agents found documents that appeared to show support for the Islamic State group and a letter to his parents at his home in a suburb of Chicago.

The letter explained his decision to join the extremist group, saying he was upset that his tax money was being used to kill fellow Muslims. The letter also said that western societies are getting more immoral.

The man told the FBI that he planned to make contact with an Islamic State contact in Turkey and join the group as a fighter.

More than 15,000 people from over 80 countries have reportedly travelled to Iraq and Syria to join the group as fighters. At least 100 of them are believed to hold US passports.

US authorities are stepping up the alert as they fear that the US nationals could return home and carry out terror attacks.

FBI 요원은  이슬람 국가 그룹에 대한 지원과 시카고의 교외에 있는 그의 집에서 그의 부모에게 쓴 편지, 문서를 발견했다.

편지는 그가 자신의 세금 돈이 동료 무슬림을 죽이는 데 사용되었다는 화가 나서 말, 극단주의 그룹에 가입하기 위해 자신의 결정을 설명했다. 편지는 또한 서구 사회가 더 부도덕지고 있다고 말했다.

남자는 그가 터키에서 이슬람 국가 접촉하여  이슬람국가 전투기 그룹에 가입하기 위해 계획한 것으로 FBI 말했다.

80 개국 이상에서 15,000 명 이상의 사람들이 소문에 전투기와 같은 그룹에 가입하기 위해 이라크와 시리아로 여행. 그 중 적어도 100은 미국 여권을 보유 할 것으로 추정된다.

그들은 미국 국민이 집으로 돌아가 테러 공격을 수행 할 수 있다는 우려로 미국 당국이 경고를 강화하고있다.
