베를루스코니 총리는 4일 이탈리아 일간지와의 인터뷰에서 "베로니카는 내게 공개적으로 사과해야 한다. 그것으로 충분한지도 모르겠다"며 역공을 취했다고 < 에이피 > (AP) 통신이 전했다. 베를루스코니 총리는 화해할 뜻이 있느냐는 질문에도 "그렇다고 생각하지 않는다. 지금 내가 화해를 원하는지 모르겠다"고 말했다.

　앞서 라리오는 3일 "남편이 걸핏하면 젊은 여성들에게 지분거린다"고 분통을 터뜨리며, 이혼소송 변호사를 선임했다고 밝혔다. 라리오는 지난주 베를루스코니 총리가 다음달 유럽의회 선거 후보로 자신이 소유한 텔레비전 방송국의 쇼걸과 젊은 여배우들을 선정하기로 했다고 발표하자 이탈리아 < 안사 > (ANSA) 통신에 비난 성명을 보냈다. 라리오는 또 베를루스코니가 최근 밤늦게 나폴리에 사는 10대 여성 모델의 생일 파티에 참석한 것에 대해서도 "우리 자녀들의 파티에는 한 번도 나타난 적이 없다"며 남편의 바람기를 강하게 비난했다. 베를루스코니 총리는 즉각 "내가 17살 소녀에게 추근거렸다는 비난은 도저히 받아들일 수 없다. 나는 그 아이의 아빠와 친구이고, 맹세컨대 그게 전부다"고 반박했다.

　두 사람의 이혼이 기정사실화하면서 현지 언론들은 베를루스코니 총리의 막대한 재산의 분배와 정치적 영향에 관심을 쏟고 있다. 현지 일간 < 라퍼블리카 > 는 기사에 아예 "실비오-베로니카, 동그라미 9개가 걸린 이혼"이라는 제목을 달았다. 이탈리아 2위의 재력가로 수십억달러의 재산을 가진 베를루스코니 총리의 이혼 소동을 풍자한 것이다.

　정치학자 마르크 라자르는 4일 < 아에프페 > (AFP) 통신에 "사람들은 베를루스코니의 마초(남성 우월주의) 기질에 익숙해져있고, 금세 이번 일을 잊을 것"이라며 "베를루스코니는 몇 시간 또는 며칠 안에 좌파에 대한 신랄한 공격을 개시할 것"이라고 말했다.
