사우디아라비아 원유 생산 늘릴 전망 (E)

세계 최대원유수출국인 사우디아라비아가 최근 기록적으로 치솟는 유가를 진정시키기 위해 원유 생산을 더 늘릴 것으로 알려졌습니다.

사우디아라비아의 이같은 원유증산 가능성의 세부 사항들에 관한 뉴스 보도들은 다양합니다.

프랑스의 AFP 통신은 반기문 유엔사무총장의 말을 인용해 사우디 아라비아가 유가를 진정시키기 위해 최선을 다할 것이라고 보도했습니다. 반기문 사무총장은 지난 14일 사우디의 압둘라 국왕과 회담한 뒤 15일 제다에서 기자들에게 이같이 말했습니다.

사우디아라비아는 이미 원유생산을 하루 30만 배럴 늘렸습니다.

한편 블룸버그 경제 뉴스는 사우디아라비아가 오는 22일 주최하는 한 회의에서 원유증산계획을 발표할 지도 모른다고 보도했습니다. 이 회의에는 주요 산유국들과 석유소비국들이 초대될 예정입니다.

Saudi Arabia, the world's largest oil exporter, may further increase oil output to help ease prices that have soared to record highs recently.

News reports vary on the details of the possible action.

The French news agency (AFP) quotes United Nations chief Ban Ki-moon as saying the Saudis "will do what they can" to bring prices down. He spoke to reporters in Jeddah Sunday after meeting on Saturday with Saudi King Abdullah.

The kingdom already has raised output 300-thousand barrels a day, which moved its output to nine-point-45 million barrels a day.

A story by Reuters quotes oil industry sources as saying the Saudis are "poised" to boost production further.

The Bloomberg financial news service says the Saudis may announce increased production at a meeting they are hosting on June 22. Major producers and consumers of oil are invited to the gathering.
