조지 부시 미국 대통령이 김정일 북한 국방위원장에게 서한을 보내고 북한 핵 프로그램에 대한 완전한 신고를 촉구했다고, 백악관이 6일 밝혔습니다.

백악관 국가안보위원회 고든 존드로 대변인은 부시 대통령이 지난 1일 다른 6자회담 당사국 정상들에게도 서한을 보냈으며, 현재 진행 중인 협상에 대한 의지를 거듭 전했다고 말했습니다.

앞서 6일 오전 북한 관영 조선중앙통신은 크리스토퍼 힐 국무부 차관보가 이번주 북한을 방문하면서, 부시 대통령의 서한을 박의춘 외무상에게 전했다고 보도했습니다.

미국 측 6자회담 수석대표인 힐 차관보는 연말까지 북한의 완전한 핵 신고를 받아내기 위한 노력을 기울이고 있습니다.

A White House Spokesman say U.S. President George Bush wrote to North Korean leader Kim Jong Il calling on Pyongyang to reveal all details of the country's nuclear programs.

National Security Council spokesman Gordon Johndroe says Mr. Bush wrote letters to all leaders involved in the six-party talks last Saturday, reiterating his commitment to the ongoing nuclear negotiations.

Earlier today (Thursday), the official Korean Central News Agency said the letter was delivered by U.S. nuclear envoy Christopher Hill during a rare visit to North Korea this week, and handed over to the country's Foreign Minister Pak Ui Chun.

U.S. nuclear envoy Hill has been stepping up efforts to get North Korea to submit a list of all of its nuclear activities before the end of the year.
