조지 부시 미국 대통령이 7일 백악관에서, 미국을 방문한 엘리자베스 영국 여왕과 남편 필립 공을 환영했습니다. 이날 백악관에서는 엘리자베스 여왕에 대한 경의를 표하기 위해 21발의 예포가 발사됐습니다.

부시 대통령은 백악관에 모인 7천명의 관중들에게 영국은 인간 자유의 역사에 여러 위대한 자취를 남겼다고 말했습니다. 부시 대통령은 이어서 1953년에 즉위한 엘리자베스 여왕이 지금까지 10명의 미국 대통령과 만찬을 했다고 말했습니다.

엘리자베스 여왕은 답사를 통해 백악관 초청과 양국의 우호 관계 증진을 위한 기회를 제공한 데 감사한다고 말했습니다.

엘리자베스 여왕은 부시 대통령과 함께 미군 의병대의 사열을 받았습니다.

President Bush has welcomed Britain's Queen Elizabeth and her husband Prince Philip to the White House with a military honor guard and a 21-gun salute.

Mr. Bush told a crowd of some seven thousand gathered on the White House Lawn that the United Kingdom has written many of the great chapters in the history of human freedom. He noted that the long-ruling Queen has dined with ten U.S. presidents.

Queen Elizabeth thanked the president for inviting her and Prince Philip to the White House, and for the chance to underline the extent of the friendship between their two countries.

The Queen and President Bush listened to both countries' national anthems and reviewed a military honor guard.(미국의 소리 2007.5.7)
