Bin Laden claims responsibility for Christmas plane bombing attempt

CAIRO, Jan. 24 (Xinhua) -- Pan-Arab al-Jazeera TV aired Sunday a voice recording in which al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden claimed responsibility for a foiled attempt of bombing a U.S.-bound airplane on Dec. 25.

Bin Laden also vowed in the recording that the strikes on U.S. targets will continue.

The U.S. foiled an attempt by Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, a 23- year-old Nigerian, who tried to blow up a U.S. airliner on Christmas Day as it approaches Detroit from Amsterdam

중동 카타르의 위성 방송국 알 자지라는 24일 국제 테러조직 알 카에다를 이끌고 있는 빈 라덴 용의자의 육성이라는 성명을 방송했습니다.

성명은 지난 달 말, 미국 상공을 비행 중인 여객기에서 승객이 폭발물을 폭발시켜려했던 테러 미수 사건과 관련해 "2001년 뉴욕의 동시다발테러의 기억을 환기시켜주기 위해서였다"며 알 카에다에 의한 범행이었다고 강조했습니다.

육성의 남자는 또, "팔레스타인 가자지구의 사람들은 비참한 상황에 방치돼 있는데 미국인들은 평화롭게 살고 있는 것은 불공평하다"며 미 정부가 이스라엘에 치우친 중동정책을 재고하지 않는 한, 미국을 목표로 한 테러공격을 더욱 강화할 것이라고 경고했습니다.
