인권 국제회의서 이란 대통령 이스라엘 비판 연설로 서방측 항의 퇴장

 

 인종차별 철폐에 대해 논의하는 국제회의에서 아마디네자드 이란 대통령이 이스라엘을 지목해 비난하자 유럽 각국 대표가 이에 항의하며 일제히 퇴장하는 사태가 벌어져, 이란과의 관계 개선을 모색하고 있는 서방측과의 관계악화가 더욱 요원해졌습니다.

이 회의는 유엔이 인종차별 철폐에 대해 논의하기 위해 20일부터 스위스 제네바에서 열어, 100여개국의 대표가 참가했는데, 정상급 참가자로서는 단 한 명 이란의 아마디네자드 대통령이 참석했습니다.

연단에 선 아마디네자드 대통령은 팔레스타인 문제에 대해 언급하고 격렬히 대립하고 있는 이스라엘을 지목하며 "가장 잔혹한 인종차별주의 체제"라며 강도 높게 비난했습니다.

이 연설로 인해 참석한 유럽 각국의 대표가 일제히 퇴장하며 항의 자세를 보였으며, 시민들도 회의장으로 난입해 아마디네자드 대통령에 대해 '인종차별 주의자'라고 외치는 등 한 때 소동이 벌어졌습니다.

이번 아마디네자드 대통령의 연설과 관련해 구미 각국에서는 벌써부터 비판이 일고 있어, 핵개발 문제 등과 관련해 이란과의 관계개선을 모색하고 있는 서방측과의 관계악화는 피할 수 없을 것으로 보입니다.

The seats of the Israeli delegation remain empty at the opening of a five day UN review conference on racism at the UN Offices in Geneva. An international conference on racism fell into disarray on Monday as Iran's president launched a verbal onslaught against Israel, triggering a mass walkout and a furious rebuke from the head of the UN.
