이란, '핵 개발 입장 변화 없어' (E)

이란은 자체 핵 계획에 관해 서방 강대국들과 대화할 준비가 돼 있다고 골람호세인 엘람 이란 정부 대변인이 오늘 (5일) 밝혔습니다. 엘람 대변인은 그러나 이란은 우라늄 농축 활동을 중단하지 않을 것이라며 기존 입장에 변화가 없다고 말했습니다.

이같은 발언은 이란이 서방 6개국의 핵 활동 중단 보상안에 대한 공식 답변안을 제출한지 하루만에 나온 것입니다.

미국과 영국, 프랑스, 독일, 러시아, 중국 등 6개국은 이란의 우라늄 농축 활동 중단을 위해 경제와 무역 혜택 등의 보상안을 제시한바 있습니다.

이란은 어제 (4일) 벨기에의 수도 브뤼셀에서 하비에르 솔라나 유럽연합 외교정책 담당 대표에게 답변안을 전달했으나 답변 내용은 알려지지 않았습니다.

A government spokesman says Iran is ready to hold talks with world powers about its nuclear program.

But he also says Iran's position has not changed and that Tehran will not give up its right to enrich uranium.

The remarks today (Saturday) by Gholamhossein Elham come one day after Iran submitted its official response to a package of incentives, drawn up by six world powers (Russia, China, France, Germany, Britain and the United States).

The six governments are offering Iran economic and trade benefits if it agrees to stop enriching uranium, a process that can be used to produce nuclear weapons.

There was no word on the content of Iran's reply, which was submitted to European Union foreign policy chief Javier Solana in Brussels Friday.
