러시아에서 신임  드미트리 메드베데프 대통령이 취임했습니다.

메드베데프 대통령은  지난 8년간 집권했던 블라드미르 푸틴 전 대통령의 뒤를 이어, 오늘 모스크바 크렘린 대궁전에서 취임선서를 했습니다.

메드베데프대통령은 곧이어  블라디미르 푸틴 전대통령을 총리로 지명했습니다. 이 지명은 러시아의회의 인준을 받아야 하지만 푸틴지명자의 소속정당이 의회다수의석을 점하고 있어 인준은 확실시되고 있습니다.

메드베데프 대통령은 푸틴 전 대통령의 정책을 대부분 이어갈 것이지만 외교정책은 자신이 직접 결정하겠다는 뜻을 분명히 밝힌 바 있습니다

메드베데프 대통령은 취임선서 후 발표한 취임연설에서 지난 8년 동안 러시아는 국가장기발전의 두터운 기반을 마련하였으며 응당 이 기회를 최대한 이용해 러시아를 세계적으로 강성한 나라로 건설해야 한다고 하면서 자신은 이를 위해 전력을 다 할 것이라고 했습니다.

Dmitry Medvedev has been sworn in as Russia's new president at a lavish ceremony in Moscow's Kremlin Palace.

More than 2,000 guests were present at the ceremony in the magnificent surroundings of St Andrew's Hall.

Honour guards in Tsarist-style uniforms brought in the golden chain of the presidential office and a copy of the Russian constitution.

Dmitry Medvedev takes the presidential oath

Mr Medvedev then took the presidential oath, becoming Russia's third leader since the collapse of the USSR in 1991.

The 42-year-old formally took over from his mentor Vladimir Putin, who had been in power for eight years.

Mr Putin - who will now become prime minister - is expected to retain major political influence.

A 30-gun salute at the Kremlin embankment

Although brief, the inauguration was triumphant in its ceremony, ending with a 30-gun salute to Mr Medvedev.

But the question of who wields the real power in the Kremlin continues to fascinate and puzzle many in Russia and abroad.
