개발도상국들, 지구온난화 최대의 피해자들 - 유엔 기후회의 (Eng)

개발도상국가들은 태국에서 초안이 작성되고 있는 유엔 기후변화 보고서에서, 가난한 나라들이 지구온난화에 거의 책임이 없음에도 불구하고, 지구온난화의 최악의 영향을 겪고 있음이 인정돼야 한다고 지적했습니다.

이번 주 방콕에서 열리고 있는 유엔 기후변화회의에 참석중인 개발도상국 대표들은 또한, 부유한 나라들이 청정 에너지 생산 기술을 공유해야 한다고 요구했습니다.

스리랑카 대표는 일부 개발도상국가들은 전력 생산을 위해 보다 환경 친화적인 방법을 개발할 수 있는 경제적 여력이 없기 때문에 화석 연료를 사용할 수 밖에 없다고 말했습니다.

Developing countries say a U.N. climate change report being drafted in Thailand should acknowledge that poor nations contribute little to global warming but suffer its worst effects.

Delegates from poor nations attending the climate change conference in Bangkok this week also are demanding that rich countries share their cleaner energy-producing technologies.

A Sri Lankan delegate (Lalith Chandrapala) says some developing countries are forced to burn fossil fuels because they cannot afford to develop more environmentally-friendly methods of generating power.

Scientists and experts from about 120 countries are negotiating the contents of the U.N. climate change report, which is expected to be released at the end of the conference on Friday.

The report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change is expected to call for the world to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by investing in renewable energy and reforestation.(미국의 소리 2007.5.2)
