부시-후진타오 ‘북한, 핵 폐쇄 약속 지켜야’ (Eng)

 

조지 부시 미국 대통령과 후 진타오 중국 국가주석은 북한이 핵 폐쇄 약속을 반드시 지켜야 한다고 합의했습니다.

고든 존드로 백악관 안보회의 대변인은 부시 대통령이 9일 대통령 전용기에서 후 주석과 전화통화를 했다며 이같이 밝혔습니다.

존드로 대변인에 따르면 두 정상은 북한이 2.13 합의에 따른 핵 포기 약속을 이행하도록, 앞으로 긴밀히 협력하기로 합의했습니다. 2.13 합의 이행은 현재 북한의 불법 계좌 문제로 늦어지고 있습니다.

존드로 대변인은 이어서 부시 대통령이 우의 부총리가 이끄는 중국대표단이 양국간의 경제협력 증진을 위해 이달 하순 미국을 방문하는데 환영을 나타냈다고 전했습니다.

U.S. President George Bush and Chinese President Hu Jintao have agreed that North Korea must fulfill its obligation to shut down its nuclear weapons program.

A U.S. National Security Council spokesman, Gordon Johndroe, said Mr. Bush telephoned Mr. Hu Wednesday from the presidential airplane (Air Force one).

Johndroe said the two leaders agreed to work closely towards getting North Korea to implement a nuclear disarmament agreement reached in February. An ongoing banking problem has hampered progress on the issue.

The security spokesman said the U.S. president also welcomed Chinese Vice Premier Wu Yi's upcoming visit to Washington, aimed at deepening economic ties.
