러시아 옐친 전대통령 2011년 2월 1일 80세 생일 기념

 

                                         러시아 초대 대통령 옐친은 1인 장기집권을 거부했습니다 그래서 러시아인들이 그 분을 존경하는 것 같습니다

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev praised the country's former president Boris Yeltsin for his reforms after the dissolution of the Soviet Union, local media reported on Tuesday.

 

Medvedev unveiled a monument to Yeltsin for his 80th birthday in the former president's hometown of Yekaterinburg, saying modern Russia should be grateful to this president.

"Present-day Russia ought to be grateful to president Yeltsin, we did not veer off the path of changes during the most complex period of its history," Medvedev said.

"He was a genuine leader...managed to perform very difficult transformations it continues moving forward today," Medvedev added, saying "Boris Yeltsin stood all the tests with honor."

Medvedev also hailed those who has helped Yeltsin, saying they had created the new state's foundation at that time.

Local media believed Yeltsin has been both praised as a reformer and criticized for impoverishing millions of Russians.

Yeltsin died of heart disease on April 23, 2007, at the age of 76. He, who has ruled Russia's from 1991 to 1999, was succeeded by Vladimir Putin.
